Environment-Specific Information

This book supports users of various operating environments. Where it provides information that does not apply to all supported environments, the following symbols are used to identify that information.

Environment

Windows. Information specific to the Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows Vista environments is identified by the Windows symbol.

Linux and UNIX. Information specific to Linux and UNIX 32-bit and 64-bit environments is identified by this symbol, which applies to all supported Linux and UNIX environments. UNIX is a registered trademark of The Open Group in the United States and other countries.

z/OS. Information specific to z/OS environments is identified by the characters z/OS.
